Representatives of the Center visited the Gulyam Yakubov School in Minsk

On November 30 of this year, the delegation of the SCO People's Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan visited the 36th secondary school in Minsk. This school was named after the hero of the Second World War, the brave Uzbek son - Gulyam Yakubov.
Gulyam Yakubov was born in 1915 in the Andijan region. The company he led broke through to the enemy side and showed great bravery. Despite heavy losses, the company retained its positions. Yakubov died in this battle and in 1945 was awarded the title of Hero.
Representatives of the Center took part in a concert program prepared by schoolchildren. The program includes songs and dances reflecting the culture of the Belarusian and Uzbek peoples. Poems praising the friendship of peoples were read.
The main part of the event was dedicated to the feat of Gulyam Yakubov during the Second World War. Information was given about the life of our ancestor.
It should be noted that the Center is doing a lot of work to perpetuate the name of the hero. In particular, the staff of the Center visited the house where Gulyam Yakubov was born and spent his childhood, the school where he studied, and also talked with his close relatives. Representatives of the family took the initiative with great pleasure to name the 36th school in Minsk after Gulyam Yakubov and to erect a monument to him.
It was emphasized at the event that it is necessary to preserve the memory of the terrible tragedy of the Second World War, that there is no future without the past, and the memory of ancestors is sacred. Kabuljon Sabirov, director of the SCO People's Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan, noted that one of the central streets of Tashkent is named after the famous Belarusian writer Yakub Kolas, stressed the importance of establishing mutual cooperation between the 110th school located in this area and the 36th school named after Gulyam Yakubov (Minsk). According to him, the future plans of the Center include holding various cultural and educational events between the two schools, in particular, organizing an online teleconference.
The students addressed the representatives of our country with questions about the history, culture of Uzbekistan, traditions and customs of our people. The event was held in the form of mutual communication, in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
In 2023, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus will be celebrated. In this regard, during the visit, important agreements were reached on a worthy celebration of this date. Such events will undoubtedly serve to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between our peoples.
