Festive greetings to the people of Uzbekistan

Dear compatriots!
I sincerely, wholeheartedly congratulate you and in your person all our multinational people on the great historical date in the life of our country – the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, I express my deep respect and best wishes to all of you.
In national development, it is impossible to overestimate the role and importance of the Constitution, which serves as a solid foundation for building a democratic State based on the rule of law and a free civil society, which was chosen by the will of our people.
Thanks to the rights and opportunities given to us by the Basic Law adopted in the first years of independence, in extremely difficult conditions for the country, and the selfless work of our people, huge successes have been achieved in all spheres and industries over the past period.
Relying on such a solid legal foundation, we have been carrying out large-scale democratic reforms in the country at an accelerated pace in recent years.
Most importantly, the socio-political life of the country, the thinking and worldview of our people are radically changing. Every citizen of Uzbekistan, regardless of nationality, language and religion, feels like a full member of society, a true master of his destiny, not only involved in all the ongoing transformations and renewal, but also a direct participant in these processes, a free person, a creator of the future.
And we have the right to be proud of our Constitution, which is the clearest manifestation of the political and legal thinking of our people, a reliable guarantor of human rights and freedoms, which has opened the way for us to build a free and prosperous life.
Dear friends!
Currently, the expression "New Uzbekistan" is increasingly heard on the world stage, the international authority of our Motherland is growing.
As you know, these days the discussion of amendments and additions to the Basic Law continues in the country. This constitutional reform is dictated by the essence and logic of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan, the wishes and proposals of our people, and the rapidly changing times themselves.
Today we must deeply introduce the principle of "Man–society–State" into the Constitution, laws, and our daily life.
It should be emphasized that the protection of a person, his life, rights, freedoms, legitimate interests, honor and dignity of the individual as the highest value is at the center of our constitutional reforms. In particular, the Basic Law will fix many issues and norms that are fundamentally important for us, such as a socially oriented state, strengthening the constitutional foundations of the institution of the family, reliable protection of the older generation, persons with disabilities, comprehensive support for women and youth, qualified medical care of the population, the development of education, science and culture, guarantees of environmental rights citizens and preservation of ecological balance, expansion of rights and powers of civil society institutions and mahallas, ensuring the independence of the mass media.
In this process, dear compatriots, the opinions and suggestions expressed by you, people of different professions and social status, will be taken into account. The draft Constitution will be submitted to a national referendum.
This is how our updated Basic Law will become a truly people's Constitution.
Dear compatriots!
Despite the conditions of the ongoing pandemic, in our country, Constitution Day is celebrated in a festive mood in all labor collectives, mahallas, educational institutions and families, observing precautionary measures.
We are developing large–scale programs, making plans for the new year - 2023. They reflect in concrete terms the great tasks we face and our noble goals enshrined in the Constitution – further strengthening of peace and stability in the country, friendship and harmony between representatives of different nations and faiths living in the republic, improving the welfare of the population, building new housing, increasing the number of jobs.
I am convinced that all of us, united, with our selfless work, will definitely reach the high milestones we have set.
Dear compatriots!
Once again, I sincerely congratulate you and all our people on a wonderful holiday – Constitution Day, I wish you all health, happiness and well-being to your families.
May the life of our people be peaceful and calm!
May the Almighty protect our beloved Homeland, all of us!
Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
