Prospects of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Gomel region of Belarus discussed

MINSK, December 15, /"Dunyo" NA /. The staff of the Embassy of Uzbekistan visited the Gomel region of Belarus within the framework of the international event "Days of business in Gomel” and held a number of meetings.
In particular, during the negotiations with the Acting Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Gomel region, First Deputy Chairman Dmitry Kozel, the issue of accelerating interregional relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus was discussed.
It is worth noting that the Gomel Region has signed separate agreements on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres with the Navoi, Ferghana and Khorezm regions of Uzbekistan. In 2018-2019, a number of mutual visits of representatives of local self-government bodies were held.
In particular, the Belarusian side expressed interest in establishing trade and economic ties, industrial cooperation, joint implementation of joint projects, promising and mutually beneficial cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian and tourism spheres of Uzbekistan with partner khokimiyats and local entrepreneurs and readiness to negotiate in these areas.
In turn, Marina Filonova, Director General of the Gomel Regional branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), also noted that ties have been established with the territorial divisions of the CCI of Uzbekistan and there is an opportunity to further expand cooperation.
Considering that a legal basis has been created for establishing interaction between the structures of the interregional and chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries on the ground, the Embassy put forward a proposal to develop a mechanism for bilateral cooperation, providing for a permanent dialogue, create joint working groups and include representatives of local authorities, CCI and entrepreneurs who can become potential partners.
In addition, study trips were carried out to the production sites and trading houses of the Gomel Production Association “Crystal”, JSC JV “Spartak” (confectionery), JSC “Gomeloboy” (colored paper), HC “Multipak” (packaging) and JSC “Comintern” (textiles), cooperation was established in promising areas. placement issues were discussed.
During the negotiations, Belarusian companies expressed interest in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan.
