A cultural meeting was held at the Yakub Kolas State Museum in Minsk with the participation of Vasilina Mitskevich, the great-granddaughter of the People's Poet of Belarus.
It was emphasized at the event that Jakub Kolas laid a solid foundation for literary friendship between the two countries. During the Second World War, the writer, who found refuge in Tashkent, was inspired by the tolerance and hospitality of the Uzbek people and created a series of poems.
Today, the poet's work and rich heritage serve as a living example of true "people's diplomacy" uniting Minsk and Tashkent.
